  • Online - metal radio shows

Couldn't find a topic on this one (if there already one please merge). So here's a kick off on a listing of radio shows (incl. blogs) where one can listen online:

The heavy Metal Mayhem Radio Show: Nice blogspot that features a lot of 1980 metal / hard rock. It gives one an idea how those shows sounded. As a bonus the blogspot also provides downloads of demo's and live shows (though the ones before september 2012 are increasingly difficult to download)

Metal Express Radio: Includes a nice website with loads of information

WREKage is an actual FM station in Atlanta, but they stream live AND archive the show on the website for exactly one week...

    http://www.wrekage.org

Of course that site was mentioned in the radio stations from the 80's and 90's post.

Then, there's DOOM Radio, which is the "companion" radio show to Vibrations Of Doom... 2 hour broadcast every week (now, every two weeks until the release of issue #54), playing everything from late 70's/80's metal to new releases that aren't even in stores yet! speed, death, thrash, doom, black, power, and everything in between; sometimes we'll play non-metal stuff too, even in the electronica realm or maybe psychedelic or folk music (though metal still dominates the playlists)

TALK IS JERICHO, Episode 29, April 10, 2014. TIJ - EP29 - Dave Mustaine of Megadeth & RIP Ultimate Warrior

From earlier this year, wrestler and heavy metal singer (FOZZY), Chris Jericho's, "This Is Jericho" podcast.

A good part of the 1.5 hour program is with Mustaine, talking about various past & present Megadeth members, the start of thrash metal, Big Four, Cliff Burton, neck surgery, his daughter Electra, etc (and none of the political commentary like he would discuss on The Alex Jones Show).

The other major portion of the show talks about that week's death of wrestler Jim Hellwig /The Ultimate Warrior . Warrior had finally returned to the WWE at Wrestlemania and RAW, was on good terms again with Vince McMahon, before his sudden death.

    DIGITAL METAL RADIO STATIONS

A friend of mine recently put me on to a site which collates & streams digital radio stations from all around the world & i've been enjoying messing around with it & have found a few good stations which serve up heavy fare that'll appeal to tastes here.
Thought i'd pass on the links & if folks do their own investigating & turn up any more worthwhile stations they could add those links to the ones i'm providing.
Please don't add stations that specialize in modern Metal, (let's keep it 70s/80s/90s), that up to date shit's easy enough to find & it ain't what we're all about here.
    Happy listening!

Here's one from Oslo. Mostly thrash and progressive metal from the 80's to now. I've heard Symphony X, WASP, Vinnie Moore, Tokyo Blade, and Fates Warning to give you an idea of the playlist.
    METAL EXPRESS RADIO
    radio.garden/live/oslo/metalexpress/

This one used to be on Live365 until they shut down. Luckily they moved to Radionomy. All 80's metal (including glam). Ozzy, Ratt, Judas Priest, etc.
    METAL SHOP
    www.radionomy.com/en/radio/metalshop/index

A little off-topic but this is a weekly radio show hosted by a FB friend. It covers multiple genres but veers toward heaviness if you are looking for an eclectic mix to listen to. Sacred Reich, Godflesh, Carnivore, Cannibal Corpse will be mixed in with Misfits, the Accused, Ramones, and occasionally goth/industrial stuff like KMFDM, Ministry, My Life with Thrill Kill Kult.
    DEADTHYME

AccuRadio has a metal section that includes some 80's stations. I like the Roots of Metal station but the 80's Aggression station gets lots of plays while I work.

MERGED with: Do You Have A Favorite Internet / Streaming Radio Station?

    Hi Metal Dudes,

I recently re-discovered the Internet Radio button on my macintosh iTunes.
The iTunes internet radio is free, services like Pandora or Spotify require payment, I think.

I like the radio station called 'Hard Rock Heaven' because they play a lot of the same content like on this website, emphasizing melodic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal from the 1980s.

I also used to like a 1960s psychedelic rock station (that might not exist anymore) that was very interesting.

What are some of your favorite streaming stations, and what do you like best about them?

This thread should probably be merged with this larger pre-existing thread on the same topic:

It just had its one year anniversary but I only found out about it a couple of days ago and it's quickly become my favorite streaming metal station.
    https://gimmeradio.com

Curated metal shows by metal musicians and music-related personalities. The Dave Mustaine show plays lots of older stuff. Most of the shows play a mix of old and new but you can look at the DJ page to see what kind of music will be featured. I like having DJs telling stories about the bands between the songs and just be a fan of metal in general. The age of Spotify and Pandora has really watered down the experience of finding and hearing new bands. It's just less personal to hear something based on an algorithm rather than an actual sharing their excitement for a new band or a particular song that meant something to them in the past.

I uploaded maybe 1 or 2 years ago (or longer), onto my Googledrive a lot of various online radio shows/ podcasts/ interviews, recorded from around 10 years ago, and forgot about them.

I have to organize them, add details, etc, and maybe just make a megapost dump of them all,
as it is too much of a headache to make separate topics for like the 20 or 50 or more, however many there are; and can guess that not too many will care to collect them.
