    Soundboard quality NWOBHM RARITY!
This is NOT my rip, rather it is from youtuber "tush001". The artwork isn't mine either, but also from the youtube rip. I'm not trying to steal tush001's thunder rather I'm trying to help spread this little gem to those NWOBHM collector's that don't even know that it exists. Tush001 goes on to say "This has been in storage since it was first recorded over 40 years ago. It has not been heard by anybody (...including even the band themselves)...until NOW!!!"

Yes, this is the same UK NOWBHM band Turbo that show up with 'Running' on The New Electric Warriors compilation LP. It's been up on youtube for nearly nine months with only a measly 127 views... shameful for such a rarity!

I converted the youtube track to a WAV file, edited into the individual tracks and then converted to MP3 as 320kbs so it's not a genuine 320kbs rip but I didn't want any additional quality loss.

This is a genuine NWOBHM RARITY probably with the same line up that released the Stallion EP available here:
    viewtopic.php?f=71&t=10835&hilit=turbo

M-A have the band line up for the Stallion EP wrong... at least it doesn't match the band listing as listed on the EP cover.

If you're not a NWOBHM fan this probably won't win you over but for those of us that love NWOBHM this is a must have... my only very small gripe is that the singer (I'm assuming it's Des Horsfall) starts with saying... "We are not a heavy metal band, we are Turbo". Denying their roots... tut tut tut.

Listening to this 70 minute gig is almost like being there.

If anyone here can confirm the band line-up or name the unknown tracks that would be terrific.

I'm guessing that the youtuber "tush001" is the selfsame "local superstar" who was the D.J. that night according to the flyer. If so, i'm hoping he made a habit of recording live bands back then & may share more from his archive.
From this recording Turbo clearly had a wealth of road tested material that could have made for a rather tasty studio album if only they'd gotten the breaks. They were heavy enough by 1981 standards but balanced that out with a knack for memorable melodies, so i'm surprised a label didn't see their potential. The band sounds really well-drilled too, with the interplay between the guitars being particularly impressive.
This show is pretty great sounding for a 40 year old bootleg, so many thanks for sharing it tygerhead.

I had a go at naming the unknown songs, these are just best guesses apart from the encore which is 'Using You' for a 2nd time, (i guess they weren't expecting to get an encore (hehe)). Knocked up some artwork for it too if anyone needs any.

Yeah I noticed that too and just assumed it was a cover version... but...

    Discogs:
    https://www.discogs.com/release/3154820 ... c-Warriors

Has "Turbo - Running" written by Sagar and Day (their drummer) and has "Kosh - The hit" written by:
Blackburn, Darwen, Day, Horsfall, Mayhew, Payne (which is Turbo).

The Turbo Stallion EP line-up is:
    Bass – Rick Payne
    Drums – Cris Day
Guitar – Ian Blackburn, Pete Mayhew
    Vocals – Des Horsfall

So there is a crossover connection with the two bands.

Kosh was a joke, not a real band. Turbo+Nigel Burnham on vocals.
While recording New Electric Warriors, it turned out that there was still room for one song, but there was no time to look for another band, so the guys came up with the idea of Kosh.

BTW. "Take My Life" was originally recorded around 1973 by the band Slack Alice.

Was the original version ever released as that song isn't on their album.

I'd somehow missed your post until just now ZygmuntJ. Many thanks for the link to the Slack Alice original. Strange that Turbo would choose to cover a song that no-one would know, makes me wonder if the 2 bands perhaps shared a member who was involved in the writing of the song.

Yes, Chris Day played it with several bands before he did it with Turbo.

Aha! It's always nice to have a hunch confirmed, thanks for clarifying things.
