Info: The Heavy Metal scene of the USSR was really huge in the communist 80's and included thousands of notable bands and talented musicians. Apparently, only a few of them gained some sort of success and publicity having the chance to record for the state-owned Melodiya Records, while the majority stayed in the underground struggling to record a demo on cassete or reel. Bands like Aria, Master, Kruiz etc were so succesful that they even recorded English spoken records to gain a broader public outside Russia while the others continued to sing in their native language. Those bands are the ones that I would like to gather in this compilation, for all you fans of 80's metal scene! I have omitted bands such as Magnit, Credo and some more which I am sure you are all familiar with and do not need further introduction as their albums are brilliant from start to finish. Also, another interesting fact is that most of the bands that I have chosen usually had 1, 2 or 3 standout songs in their albums/demos while the rest songs were average. I hope that I have made a good selection and that we share the shame taste!
