Hi, drunk admin here

What would you change about the site if you had the tools to do so? I always find it interesting that people have so many different opinions how a forum or website should be run. Feel free to give your opinions. It helps me to get new ideas how to make the forum better.

The first thing that comes in my mind is making sticky those threads very useful to all new users, like "how to view hidden download links", "how to upload/hide links" (and rules in general...) and - finally - "STOP POSTING "thanks" / DON'T SPAM!!

1. When you click on the download link, a new window should be open.

2. Re-releases after 2010, which are sold out, should be allowed too.
Makes no sense when something was re-released in a very small edition (like some obscure labels do) and nobody is able to buy it.

3. Releases after 2010 are not allowed, why not change it a little bit.

2010 - 2024 not allowed
2011 - 2025 not allowed
2012 - 2026 not allowed etc....

When I click on the download link, I go directly to the download page (no pop up window opens).

I use firefox too, but when i click 'hidden link' i get the pop-up message telling me to give reputation points to see the link. When i then click the 'thumbs-up' icon to do so i get another pop-up to give points with the option to leave a message there.
I presume this is how it's supposd to display? You can see what i mean in the screengrab below.
Might be that qpr is using an older (or newer) version of firefox than me.

I am on FIREFOX as is riptorn and everything he describes applies to me as well......

As far as what I would change, you already know of my concerns about all users sharing, not just 5 to 10% of the members. There should be a mechanism activated when someone attempts to reveal the hidden download link. That mechanism would verify the down loader has a certain predetermined number of reputation points and has a predetermined number of uploads to the site.

I would also strongly suggest that reputation points would not be automatically given when someone clicks the hidden download link. At that time, they have no idea of what they will be receiving if anything......Reputation points should be given much the same way as the thumbs up points are given. The down loader would click a button on the post to award reputation points after he/she has downloaded the file and had an opportunity to listen to the title downloaded and see the data and art supplied with the file.
Then, he should award reputation points to the uploader based upon his satisfaction and review of the file. Just my two cents worth......

No that is not what I mean.

I get the pop up message "give points" as well.

I mean when I click the download link, it would be nicer when another window would be open (like on many other forums).

So I had 2 windows open - one with the forum and the 2nd one with the download.

once i click to give points, and a link is exposed, i right click on the link, and the link page opens in another tab

So what he means is, when you click on the download link, instead of the current page changing to the download page, it should open that page in a new tab while keeping the current HMR tab open next to it. This is a good idea.
