It seems that there are again serious problems with 4shared, today (29/6/2022)...

I always have problems with downloading there. There are so many pop-ups, and I often have to try the link 3 or 4 times before the download is successful, having to back out at least twice typically because the screen is literally inundated with pop-ups and spam, and I'll get an error message where from there I'm unable to move forward. It's not even just a matter of it being difficult to see which button is the actual download, and what is spam that some shady company is paying to have people accidentally click on (though it's not appreciated). If it's a rare/interesting release I'll still use it, and am not meaning to sound ungrateful. For a free download, I'm willing to deal with some hassles - but it always goes much better in my experience at Mega (never a problem) or Mediafire (even though for some reason the compilation that I tried sharing here yesterday that was uploaded there wouldn't allow a download to happen due to 'terms of service' unless I was logged in - not sure what was going on there).

I never see any pop-up's but I use uBlock Origin, an Add-on tool installed on Firefox.
Plus, i add someone's download to my 4shared account, and can instantly download from myself, instead of waiting 60 seconds.

4shared has always been user unfriendly for me and others have already mentioned in detail the problems. Before creating an account and when they still had stupid perverse ads similar to zippyshare (another weird story) I actually found downloading content easier, but ever since they removed the blatant ads i can't seem to bypass all the crazy popup windows and it also takes a few attempts before i ever get to the successful 20 second countdown download page. As an old tablet user my experiences with everything could vary a lot from proper pc users, but i am done uploading to 4shared anyway since the free 15gb is basically full.

* Edit point * 4shared is sometimes working better again for downloading, but unfortunately there are some files i uploaded which they are not letting me delete from my account, very inconsistent service.

Speaking of unfriendly hosts, zippyshare in past times used to give me lots of problems and they still maintain perverse ads. I would never create an account with them, but in recent times when i actually found links that work i simply ignore the ads, open the download button in a new window, and the content starts to get immediately transferred. If i had actual financial resources to get lots of rare music to share, i would probably pay mega for their advertised 16tb of space.

Last few times i've been there the site isn't displaying properly & i've been unable to access the d/l links. May be a geographical problem as i think that access has been restricted by certain countries. Newbies unfamiliar with the site are likely suffering the same problem & are reporting links as dead as a result.

This could be a reason, because here in Italy, in Sweden and in Canada WE have absolutely ZERO problems in downloading from 4shared...

I use a VPN a lot, and change my IP location depending if I wanted access to something that was blocked, or using torrents, so probably why I have never had a problem

I used to be able to access 4shared wiithout problem, and have been doing so for 15 years or so, but about 6 months ago it became problematic. I either can't connect at all or the page displays wrongly with the link inaccessible. I recall the same problem emerged when the UK restricted access to zippyshare, so that's what got me thinking there may be geographical restrictions in play.
BTW OldNecromancer, zippyshare no longer exists so you may want to update your signature.

I tried proxysite.com, and access to 4shared works fine via there. The EU Server option is in French (making it tricky to figure out for non-French speakers like me), but the US Server option is, thankfully, in English. Thanks for the tips, Emil!

I always have my Sky Broadband Shield turned off, and 4shared hasn't been blocked by Sky, so I'm puzzled why this issue has arisen recently. Mega or WeTransfer is a far better option for hosting uploads anyway.

Hopefully you can access 4shared if really needed now.

Either your country or ISP is blocking it would be interesting if anyone else from UK could check 4shared becuase when I use a proxy located in London I get this error "The server understood the request but refuses to authorize it."

Yeah, i'm also in the UK & i've been unable to access 4shared since January. Have also discovered the same problem has now emerged with yandex links too.
Got me wondering if there's perhaps some concerted effort afoot again to restrict access to filehosters akin to the events some years ago which put paid to much missed sites like megaupload, filesonic etc.
Damn 'the man'!

i have been searching for sites listing any"national piracy blocklist", and "why is 4shared blocked?", etc. and finding nothing.

It is as if Google, and countries/governments do not want the public to know what they are blocking / censoring.

I did find this, 4shared is based in the USA / owned by an American, but that does not help.

4shared is not blocked here in Australia, but porosimetal uploads via 4shared and I can usually only download his links via 'facebook', which is my wife's account linked to her phone... so yes you guessed it I'm often searching for her phone to authorise the facebook link so that I can download porosimetal's links... which often becomes too hard so I (not always) but often give up.

The recent 4shared problems are now being replecated on some other sites, at least for me as a firefox user in the UK.
WeTransfer displays normally, but clicking on the 'accept cookies' button doesn't work, so you can't then progress to the d/l link.
Yandex.ru also no longer displays correctly & all buttons are disabled.



Annoying. If i find any work-arounds i'll share them.

The screenshot shows that the site did not load completely. These are personal problems for you and your browser. Most likely you are using a VPN. Clear your cookies and site cache for the last 12-24 hours and check everything again. Good luck.

I've had several posts that report the link as dead when it's a 4Shared link, even though I can see the link and download it myself. I'm replacing all of them as they are brought to my attention, if you see any of my posts with a 4Shared link just report it as a dead link and I will re-upload on Mega when I get a few minutes.

No sense in going thru all the hassle, I didn't realize 4Shared would be a problem when I first started here.

If your provider has blocked 4shared, then you can bypass this block only by changing the IP (by proxy) or through the IPV6 protocol. If it is supported by your provider. Detailed instructions are available on the Internet.

You did this on the Ttrashmageddon website, which was then located in Russia. Their servers were there, so everything worked, but now almost three codes like Russian servers around the world are blocked, so T-mag and many exchanges have become inaccessible. By the way, T-mag switched to normal US hosting since last fall and they have no problems.
But I still advise everyone to use a VPN with similar proxies, to bypass prohibitions and blockings.
