Australia has produced several fine metal bands over the years, but back in 1983 there wasn't a lot of metal originating from down under, and anything that did emerge was invariably compared to AC/DC. Black Alice didn't really sound much like AC/DC at all, though their style is somewhat similar and Rob Hartley's distinctive vocals occasionally sound like Brian Johnson's. Instead the album owes a bit to the NWOBHM sound that was in vogue at the time, resulting in a fairly straightforward album that didn't get a lot of notice but yet was a BNR favorite at that time. The group broke up soon after the one album's release, but the name was brought back a few years later, in a 1989 sci-fi movie called Sons Of Steel, with Hartley playing the lead character named, in fact, Black Alice. Hartley and guitarist Jamie Page also contributed to the movie's soundtrack. http://www.bnrmetal.com/v3/band/band/BlAl
