The "Tyazholyi Ston" (a play on words, and can sound like a "Heavy Moan" (in direct translation), and a "Heavy Stone") band was created in 1979 by guitarist Sergei Mytsalo and keyboardist Andrei Momotov. This allowed them to become one of the first hard'n'heavy bands in the region. The line-up was not stable, and the band did not work over a year, around 1986. In 1987, the band re-established, and recorded a large studio demo, but, unfortunately, due to negligence, all the master copies were lost, and it was not possible to distribute it. Only in 2009, Sergei Mytsalo managed to record some old songs, materials of that have been preserved.
This is not quite a typical doom, more like modern so-called "Magic Metal" bands, with a touch of Demon (UK) and electric organ parts... but unique in that it's really 80's stuff.
Not bad, really dark material.
Line-up at the time of 1988:
Mokhov Vyacheslav - vocals, bass guitar
Mytsalo Sergei - guitar, sometimes vocals
Smirnov Oleg (B.Jo.) - drums
