Something that's recently gone quite high up in price, this is my lossless rip of the self-titled album by the legendary hardcore visual kei The Piass (妃阿甦). They released a bit of material in the early and mid 1990's, but split in 1995 following a freak accident that killed two band members. Originally a rather straightforward hardcore band, they later experimented with some goth-tinged punk band, until their unfortunate split in late 1995. They reunited in late 1998 with an intense vengeance and a new sound that blended hardcore punk with blistering metalcore, and they would later on even experiment with deathcore influences as well. A definite maturity statement, to say the least. As for the album, it is one of the most intense and unforgiving releases in the visual kei underground during its period, although it still has some soft elements, which is particularly shown on the final track "With You ~Itsu Made mo Konomama de~ (いつまでも此のままで)". Overall though, it's a pretty intense album with some nice melodic breaks every now and then that sort of served as The Piass's farewell to their melodic past as their later efforts proved to be twice as brutal. Definitely recommended to fans of intensely heavy hardcore punk who also enjoy a bit of softer, melodic elements sprinkled in every once in a while.
