The SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, often abbreviated to T.S.O.O.L., was a Swedish rock band that was formed in Gothenburg in 1995 and disbanded in 2012.
The band's style drew heavily on influences from sixties and seventies Rock, such as ROLLING STONES and THE STOOGES, with Psychedelic and mystical references prominent in the band's lyrics.
Originally formed by Torbjörn "Ebbot" Lundberg, Björn Olsson, Ian Person, Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm, Fredrik Sandsten and Martin Hederos, several members, including vocalist Lundberg, had previously played in the Punk Rock band UNION CARBIDE PRODUCTIONS who released 5 studio albums between 1987 & 1994.
Olsson, who as guitar player had helped craft the band's sound, left T.S.O.O.L. after its first album, 1996's 'Welcome To The Infant Freebase', to pursue a solo career.
He was replaced by ex-MINDJIVE man Mattias Bärjed before the band recorded their second album ' Extended Revelation (For The Psychic Weaklings Of Western Civilization)' in 1998.
The band were later to find critical success in the United States, with their third album 'Behind The Music', which was nominated for the Best Alternative Album award at the 2003 Grammy Awards.
Among the newly converted was OASIS main man Noel Gallagher, who proclaimed 'Behind The Music' to be "the best album to come out in the last six years".
As if to back that statement up, Oasis then took T.S.O.O.L. out on the road as support act on their UK and European tours.
A new T.S.O.O.L. studio album, 'Origin Vol. 1', issued in late 2004, featured a guest appearance from actress Jane Birkin and the record was as well received as it's predecessor.
2005 saw the release of 'A Present From The Past', a 2-CD compilation album containing songs from the band's myriad non-LP releases, as well as previously unreleased material.
T.S.O.O.L. then began work on an album which was to be called 'Origin Vol. 2', but the project was ultimately abandonded along with the songs written for the proposed record.
Instead, the band took their time and wrote and recorded a wealth of entirely new material, which became their next release, the ambitious 24 song double album 'Communion', released in November 2008.
In early 2012, the band announced that their new album, 'Throw It To The Universe', was complete, and that it would feature original guitarist Björn Olsson guesting on 3 songs.
Before the touring cycle for the album began, Ebbot Lundberg let it be known that 'Throw It To The Universe' would be the band's final album, reasoning that the record perfectly completed the band's 17 year musical journey.
The band performed its emotional final show on 22nd December 2012, the end of a six show run at Södra Teatern in Stockholm, Sweden where they'd played each of their studio albums in their entirity on consecutive nights.
Post T.S.O.O.L., the group's members have remained active in music, with guitarist Mattias Bärjed being the most visible.
He formed a new band called FREE FALL with with Jan Martens from NYMPHET NOODLERS, Ludwig Dahlberg from THE (International) NOISE CONSPIRACY and Kim Franson.
Their debut single "Power And Volume" was released by Nuclear Blast in 2012, and the following year saw the release of a critically acclaimed full-length album of the same title.
In addition to Free Fall, Bärjed also finds the time to compose & record music for movie soundtracks, and is a touring member of Swedish Punk legends REFUSED.
Ebbot Lundberg has embarked on a solo career since T.S.O.O.L.'s dissolution, releasing two albums; 'There's Only One Of Us Here' & 'On The Other Side Of Light', and producing other artists.
