Info: EN-GARDE was formed in 1994 as a four piece line-up. Their first attempt was a mix of garage and gothic with intense unusual female vocals. After a lot of experiments the band changed direction to more melodic and atmospheric forms. The different influences of the band members brought an unusual result which combines heavy sound, symphonic parts and weird atmospheric feelings.
En-Garde had made something unique for those days, combining gothic-metal music with opera female vocals and creating their personal sound and style
The line-up of EN-GARDE is: Elisabeth (Vocals, Synth, Piano), George (Bass), Jordan (Guitars) and Jim K. (drums).
In February '95 they entered PRAXIS studios to record two tracks for their 7" gatefold EP called "Negative Self Image" which was released by Dark Side records. A year after its release it was sold out.
Their weird style and their abilities resulted in a proposal by Metal Hammer /Heavy Metal magazine to be featured with a new track in Hammer’s first CD compilation "Hammer Holocaust I ".
After some differences with Dark Side Records (R.I.P.), EN-GARDE released "Deviation" cassette EP. This would have been released as a split CD with NAOS (Magus Wampyr Daoloth) from Dark Side records but never did.
In summer '96 Throne Productions contacted them and by the late October they have begun the recordings for their debut album "Comedia De L'Arte" in PRAXIS studios. Their new effort contained 9 tracks which unite atmospheric/symphonic parts, deep heavy sound and melancholic female operas vocals...
