Sentinel Steel was a great magazine, but it was from the mid-'90s. You might want to check it out anyway. They had some reviews and features on bands from the '80s.

I have plenty of heavy/power oriented mags/zines (mainly published in the 90's). They mostly contained contemporary (90's-00's) underground metal bands playing in the 80's vein, but also some reviews/articles/interviews from 80's bands as well. Here are some of them (english/german/greek written) :
