I painted this cover back in 1989. The original art is about the same as the gate-fold sleeve. The band members couldn't all come to my studio at the same time, which made it difficult to work out the composition and the lighting.
The band imagined themselves in a Tolkien-esque setting, with the lead singer (Cindy Grimwood), weaving a magical spell. Unfortunately when she turned up for a reference photo she gave me leaden poses until I suggested she imagined grabbing one of the guys by the nuts. She instantly struck this determined pose and I got my reference photo!

Thanks for the info. I discovered this album Redeemer (Aus) - The Light Is Struck (1990) about a year ago online.
GREAT heavy metal / power metal, with some speed metal. That chick can belt it out really cool too.
Not surprised the asking price is around $900 for a copy these days.
