Southpaw is a band that started in 1987 in Booneville, Ms. between 3 college students - Richie Wright, Jeff Pitts, Billy Richardson. A band that gigged primarily in the northern Mississippi and Memphis area and recorded original songs in the studio. Although there were different lineups of the band -the core has stayed the same. Fast forward to 2017 and Richie, Jeff, and Billy have completed recording original music and have released a new CD titled WINTER ANGEL!Our influences are varied from Rock, Blues, Country, and Jazz - it is a blend of all of this and Southern Rock that define our style... "Spring" I (Jeff Pitts) wrote this song right after graduation in the summer 1987 and thought it was going to be #1 in the country. It was the A side of the 45 record Southpaw recorded in 1987 along with Cold Heart. It's the perfect closing song on the Winter Angel CD and my best vocal

"Cold Heart" Richie Wright, William Richardson and myself (Jeff Pitts) first recorded this song as a 45 record in 1987 in a trailer in Jumpertown, MS. It was a rockin song we got played on several radio stations. Including country station WBIP in Booneville. I imagine several grandpa's threw away their radio when they heard it LOL. But it sure rocked as the opener for the Winter Angel CD.

"Spring" was later re-recorded by Jeff Pitts for his album 'Nola'

I can do better than that. Here's a complete version of the song which i acquired sometime over the years since we originally discussed it. It's only @ 192 kbps but it sounds decent enough to get the feel of it. Unfortunately i don't have the flipside, but as it's described as 'soft rock' on discogs that may be a blessing in disguise. No problem Emil, glad you enjoyed it.
The re-recording is well done yet somehow the 'x-factor' that made the original is missing from this 'better' recorded version. Seems to happen more often than not when old bands attempt to re-record old material.
Apparently it's quite tricky to catch lightning in a bottle.
