Lizzy Borden is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. Lizzy Borden is also the name of its lead vocalist. Borden specialized in the type of rock that was then performed by bands like Alice Cooper and Accept.

The name of the band was taken from Lizzie Borden, a woman accused of murder in the 19th century.


The band took as musical influences Rainbow, Blue Cheer, Accept, Nazareth, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, even though it was considered a Hair Metal / Glam metal group.

Guitarist Joe Holmes also played with David Lee Roth and Judas Priest, and bassist Marten Andersson has performed in the bands Lynch Mob and Legacy.

The band enjoyed popularity in the mid-eighties despite the constant departures of its musicians. Many members of Lizzy Borden, including Lizzy and drummer Jackelynn Thompson, formed a side project called Starwood in 2004, which represents a departure from Borden's trademark metal sound.


During that time, alternative rock bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Creed, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Faith No More etc, which had great popularity in the 90s, They caused glam metal and thrash metal bands of the 80s, such as Motley Crue, Dokken, Ratt, Loudness, Europe, WASP, Exodus, Twisted Sister and Winger, to start to decline in popularity and acceptance by the public. which forced them to change their sound for a more mature and experimental sound.

The band recently released the album Appointment With Death (2007), accompanied by a world tour in 2008 in conjunction with Lordi.
