vaalkoth's broken links

I cannot keep up with all these broken links of mine. Fuck it. If you missed it the first time I shared it you are out of luck. I am not spending days uploading broken links!!!! I have like 50 fkn broken link messages. I'd rather spend my time uploading new stuff and sharing it. Tired of fixing broken links. I am so over it. It sucks how links break, the internet is becoming more censored and everything is becoming a pain in my ass that I do not need. I am trying to reduce stress in my life and this is adding to it. So sorry guys, my life does not revolve about fixing broken links. Blame zippy and all these powers that be running the internet.

I can understand this Mikael. I'm tired of fixing broken links all these years too. The good thing with me is that all my recently uploads or re-uploads are working, because I'm choosing MEGA and it's very reliable. Maybe if you decide not using zippy will be a solution for the ones that you will upload from now on. For the past ones, some of the members that downloaded them, maybe they can contribute a bit here by re-uploading them too!!! Some members here are ONLY downloading stuff and nothing else!!!

All uploaders should automatically delete the incoming private message of "Notification about dead links in a post".
Not your responsibility to re-upload.

That was enabled more for the moderators to change the topic headings;
it informs other members they are dead links and not to give points and then get angry when it doesn't work.

Well I have switched over to mega, but as my zippy links all fail eventually, I will pick and choose what I feel like re-uploading into mega. For now I am just going to focus on new shares. I have some more to come.....

IMPORTANT: it's vaalkoth

So this is vaalkoth. I have some shitty news. The harddrive on my computer went. It has been brought to a PC specialist and being shipped to Kentucky to see what and if they can extract anything from it. I have 30 years worth of my life on it. Pics, music, downloads, scans, family stuff, 3000+ cemetery photographs, collections, plus everything I have ever ripped and shared or downloaded.

So I am on a hiatus from anything right now. I cannot re-up ANYTHING except what's already there and not a dead link yet. Feel free to let me know how my mega links are holding up and if they become broken.

I luckily had a spare computer never-used, and that's what I am on now. I re-installed my ripping and editing software so I am basically starting from scratch until I find out the fate of my harddrive. Hopefully they will get everything and put it onto an external harddrive and send it to me where I can then put it back into this new computer. So anything I share will have to be something newly ripped after today, which sucks because I had like 10 rare demo's ready to go that I had just ripped this past week and some old radio shows.

But....if I have lost everything, then don't count out me disappearing because I have drawn a noose and hanged myself. Literally.

Bummer. I spread my audio / video files onto dif't hard drives, but don't have back up's
I had a few hard drives die on me , still sitting on a shelf, until I finally decide to spend the big money to see if the info can be extracted, but the drives have to be rebuilt with vintage parts and they are all between 10-20 years old.

Well, if need be, some of us will gladly re-upload all your stuff back to you of what we grabbed, if it helps any.

I know that feel man... i've lost a drive some years ago with rare stuff (because of a wáter flood enter on my computer), fortunately i've recovered in the last 10 years, most part of it and now i have a backup of the most important stuff so that won't happen again, it's sad anyway, hope you can recover your archives, we can kindly re- upload stuff back to you if you request, and cross finger for you to recover most of that sttuff back to you, cheers!

Sorry to hear of your plight vaalkoth.
After all you've provided through your generosity to the community here, the least we can do is to rally round to help out a brother in a time of need. Once you know what you've been able to recover from the damaged drive, (and therefore know what you no longer have), rest assured you have people here willing & able to help you rebuild your music collection.
Hopefully the harder/impossible to replace personal stuff you had on there is able to be salvaged.

I, somehow, lost 3TB of an external HDD, full of music (mostly vinyl rips) and cover scans (mostly vinyl scans), because I connected it with the USB of my TV!!!
I was hopeless, too.
A friend of mine got ALL the lost data, back, after hours of hard work.
I hope the PC specialist will save most of your data and won't cost you a fortune.

Sorry to hear that, i hope they can save most of your harddrive.
I've also lost several times years of downloads/pictures/personnal stuff because of shitty harddrives...i will reupload what i have on mine if needed.

Very sorry to hear this. I'd be willing to try a recovery if you get the disk back and not satisfied. I have been successful many times with recoveries for my work. If the disk is spinning, there is hope. Could take many weeks at times, and may not always recover 100%, but generally worth it.

Sorry to hear about the HDD failing, but it really is important to make backups every now and then, just in case things go awry. I've got external HDDs that I keep around just for backing up to, and then they get unplugged and stored away somewhere safe. I'm very OCD when it comes to managing such things. I'd also recommend ditching NTFS forever and sticking to something more like Ext4 for filesystem formatting, as NTFS itself causes fragmentation over time. Therefore, MP3s will actually degrade, despite being digital.

If you're still reading this, I hope you've been able to recover at least partial data. If not, then don't do it. Life goes on. Cheers.

They might get scattered, which could put them more at risk of being damaged by a hard drive or memory error. But degrade is the wrong word here. Their quality is not going to slowly worsen over time. They'll almost certainly be either fine or destroyed.

vaalkoth, I'm so sorry.... hope you solved the problem.
This remembers me I need to make a backup of my files... how many backup HD's do we need to be sure?
maybe the only sure backup is the internet itself... because a file is stored multiple (when not hundreds of) times ...
that's why I also started to share... to promote really good unknown bands and leave them flow on the internet for next generations.

I got my harddrive back. They did manage to save stuff. But so far the way the stuff is organized is all convoluted and it's taking forever to properly locate stuff. I don't know what I do and don't have because all the separated folders I had seem to be mixed into these generic files with 15 digit titles and just randomly alphabetized. It's a nightmare and could take me a year to properly organize. Our pics and stuff seem to be intact in their folders with the initial folder titles making them easier to find. But music stuff with the demo cover scans and all that....that's a different story. And this new comp we are using apparently has less memory. So there's lots for me to still figure out. I still cannot upload any of my broken links. All the zippyshare ones should be gone. I've stopped using zippy. The Mega links SHOULD still be working. I hope.
I haven't gotten to ripping any new stuff yet. I have so much other shit I am dealing with on this computer. But I am sure sometime this summer I will get back to ripping some demo's and radio shows so just be patient. I'm not dead.

that sounds like what an Ipod mp3's looked like when I was asked to extract them to a hard drive.
Only when I played them in media monkey did the real info became intelligible.

Yes, I am back finally. You'll see I have been ripping and sharing some new stuff. And just yesterday my wonderful girlfriend FINALLY found the files of all my old music! She spend a LONG time looking for them, but they were finally located. So almost 98% of my collection has been restored! Now I have a LOT of broken links. I will be getting to them as I can. I just uploaded a bunch of recent broken link requests, so if there's a post of mine with a dead link, you can start checking them over the next couple weeks as I upload new links to Mega. My #1 priority is still uploading new stuff, but I'll upload new links in big chunks when I have the time. It's too time-consuming to respond back to every dead link request, so just check back to my posts to see which ones have been re-uploaded over time.
Be patient.
And if you're not a metal head you might as well be dead.

more re-ups finished

So.... I made a 2nd Mega account and I am fixing many dead links. I did about 12 yesterday.
Right now I have just made new links for Long Winters Stare CD'00#2, Blowing Thrash #2, Shreds Of Insanity #2, #3, Spellbook #2, and I am uploading a bunch more 90's Zine's with dead links plus a few demo's.
Should have Oskorei #1 (w/free comp CD) + 1st 2 Sounds Of Death up tonight.

I cannot find my Nocturnal Rites 1993 promo#3 or my Decrepit Uth demo's. So I can't fix those links.

Next I'll get to some 90's CD's and then some 80's Zine's. So I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

I am DONE re-upping shit. I spend time searching for files and spending all this time, and for what?
I will ONLY be sharing NEW rips now. If any more of my links are broken, you are shit out of luck that you missed it the first time!

OK, I have re-upped almost every dead link of mine. There are about a dozen of my posts with dead links as of today 10/26/18 that I cannot fix because those are recordings I lost in my computer hard drive crash this summer. So if anyone else wants to share those broken links, please do because I don't have them anymore.

Ok, I checked all of your dead links and found them all.
I packed those 35 items into an archive (1.3 GB) and sent them via WeTransfer, so watch out for a notification.
Hope I can help to recover most of what you lost back then…
