This is basically the band Crimeny, whose album Peat I just posted. On this album, bassist Scott Stine changes to rythm guitars and they bring in a new guy on bass and Scott's brother Brett on keyboards. The music in this project is very much influenced by the older neoclassical days of Symphony X. Derek Taylor is no Russell Allen, but he has got a perfectly acceptable voice. The songs might not be as good as the best Symphony X songs, but still it's great neoclassical prog metal. I think the only area where Eniac Requiem beats Symphony X is guitar solo's...

The name Eniac Requiem is a reference to the first general purpose electronic computer wich was called [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC
]Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer[/url], and was announced in 1946.

This CD can be found much easier than the Crimeny CD. I hope it still is rare enough to be included here.

thanks Danneq - I never heard of this one. I passed on downloading Crimeny because the AIC/Korn comparisons means I'm highly unlikely to like it. But this one sounds more my cup of tea. (knight)

I used to be a big Alice in Chains fan around Dirt (1993). I sometimes listen to them now and I do prefer Eniac Requiem to Crimeny. But still Crimeny is groovy stuff and beats most of all grunge. Most definitely whn it comes to technicality.

The Korn comparison is mostly because of the guitars' low tuning.

I have read about them in a greek metal zine. I had added their name in my list of the albums I should check. Thanks a lot for the upload! (thanks)

Danneq, I like Alice in Chains too. I'm not a huge fan, but I appreciate several parameters of their music. Are you aware of the Nymphs? I'm really into them! (Nymphs - Nymphs [1991]).

Space Eternal Void is, imho, one of the best progressive metal album of the nineties.
