US Heavy Metal quartet PRISONER were a short lived group from the Dallas/Fort Worth region of Texas who existed for just a few years in the mid 1980's, but who performed many local shows and toured regionally with BLACKFOOT and PANTERA. Their sole release was a self-finaced 45 on their own Han-Cuff Records which paired 'Heavy Metal In My Soul' with 'It's Your Time'. According to guitarist Eric Knudson, side A was recorded with producer Lew Blackburn at Pla-Back Studios in Oak Cliff, Texas, with the flipside recorded with Phil York at Crystal Clear Sound, Dallas, Texas, however the label on the record itself reverses these credits. Only 500 copies of the single were pressed, and of those, apparently only 350 were made available to the public.Eric Knudson would later resurface in the early 2000's as a member of PHANTOM-X, appearing on their 'Rise Of The Phantoms' and 'Storm Riders' albums, before then forming an outfit called E.K.G. (Eric Knudson Group), with whom he toured Europe supporting ANVIL & released a 2009 album called 'From The Heart'.
