Could this possibly be the band Redd Barron?
It could be track 6 on this video "Fall Of The King", but not sure of the exact year.

Hi all. I have been going through my cassette collection, and found a couple of miscellaneous tapes of songs I recorded off the radio (Z-Rock and college radio) back in the mid- to late-80s. I have been able to identify every song but one, and it's a really cool song! Can anyone help me figure it out? It's driving me insane!

One would think the title is "The Fall of the King", but no amount of searching for that or Googling the lyrics has returned a valid result. The singer sounds very familiar, so if someone can identify it, I'll probably end up feeling really really stupid, but I have been trying to figure this one out for quite a while, and I don't think I ever did know who this was by... Nothing else on the tape is newer than 1988, so that probably dates it to sometime before then. It's definitely 80s metal, and fairly heavy. I have transcribed the lyrics to the 1st verse and chorus, and included a link to the .mp3.

The sky is filled with ashen smoke
The towers burn, the walls they crumble
The bodies lie about the fields
No one is left to win the battle

The people can't believe their eyes
The king has fallen, to see him die!
A time of mystery, a time of death
The evil one's comin' out from hell

The fall - the fall of the king
The fall - the fall of the king

Thanks for your help! Someone here's gotta recognize it!

Yeah, the guy contacted me personally so that is why I came here. I had no previous knowledge of his online search for the identification of the band/song in 2009. What he told me was what you have right there, it's been a 30 year quest for him.

I put in about an hour on this yesterday with no luck. It sounds like something that I should know, which is how a lot of people seem to feel from comments that I read on YouTube. I agree with some of the opinions that it is must be a demo. It has that New York/New Jersey sound, but could have probably come from anywhere in the US or Canada. Was thinking also that it could be a compilation track, since those sometimes aren't as searchable online, but could be very available to a radio show. Just thinking of some early Texas metal bands that I've heard of but there's not much info about are Seance, with Ignatius "Nacho" Vara, currently in Byfist, and some band I never heard of before and can't remember the name of but were mentioned twice in a Snakepit magazine Wyzard interview, alongside Mercyful Fate and some other good bands in a list of their favorites/influences (from Texas, if I remember it right). Cheers to anyone still looking. This band will get a bunch of unexpected attention whenever the mystery is solved!

I have been thinking it could be a compilation track as well, maybe from some local tape or vinyl.
I tink that would be the most likely to get promotion through radio.

That said, I don't know much about the radio station and what they used to play so I could be totally wrong

Z-Rock Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ZROCK-FORCE-250785584952746/
Z-Rock Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1K3U4 ... Nt1ZnfAppQ

I contacted them but guess that have been tried already

Also tried here: https://www.facebook.com/G-Force-1330-187474581437120/

G-Force 1330 was a Hard Rock & Heavy Metal radio station that served the Chicago area in the late 1980s. It was launched on WKTA and later became Rebel Radio. The format was spawn out of the ashes of another rock radio station Z-Rock 106.7FM.
