Info:
FACE DANCER began their journey in the early 1970’s at the University of Rhode Island, but would ultimately lay down their roots in Washington, DC where they found a much larger college rock scene that was excited by what the band had to offer. Early influences of classic hard rock to ambitious progressive music, quickly gave way to original songs that left the crowd clamoring for more. Lineup changes resulted in Carey Kress (vocals), Jeff Adams (lead guitar), David Utter (rhythm guitar), Scott McGinn (songwriter/bass), and Billy Trainor (drums) becoming the core group that would take the band to the heights of popularity. As FACE DANCER’s reputation grew, they made their way to the music scene in Baltimore, MD where they exploded like no other band at the time. It wasn’t long before they were pursued by major record labels, ultimately deciding on Capitol Records where they released two albums, “This World” and “About Face.”But changes to the original lineup and Capitol’s uncertainty on how to market the band ended with FACE DANCER being released from their contract. Even after Carey Kress came back into the fold, it wasn’t enough to sustain FACE DANCER and they disbanded in 1982. Or so they thought …The band’s tremendous popularity had the local fans demanding for more which lead to many reunion concerts throughout the years and the release of two more independent albums “Midnite Raid” and “Alive.” But sadly, in 2008, Carey succumbed to a long battle with cancer and FACE DANCER was no more.
