Gianni Greco(who had a past during the 60/70s in some beat/pop groups)
formed the band during the middle 70s under the name of "Mad House",
after many line up changes he renamed as Meat Puppets
(not to be confused with a famous american punk band with the same name)
playing a lot of gigs and gaining good reviews so the label Drums
signed the band,in 1982 a 7" entitled Gold/Look at yourself was released
(both songs,rerecorded in a new version,were included in the
album) and finally the LP "Gold" was released in 1983(there
were also French pressings of the single and the album made
by the label Amour,a sublabel of the major WEA); the same major label
signed the band for a new album with the aim to launch the band in the
USA but asked for some line up changes,this caused strong contrasts among
the musicians and Meat Puppets soon disbanded...former members
went on playing in various local/underground bands but their
chance of commercial success was definitevely gone...during
the years the hatred among them went on burning and even after
30 years they still insult each other in some blog/forums... LOL!!!
