This is another Icebreaker from Soviet Ukraine – this is what «krigolam» (or «krygolam») means in Ukrainian. This demo also has another title – «Подорож до Аврори» («Travel to Aurora»), and dated both with 1985 and 1986 years according to different sources.

This band was founded back in 1983 in Ukrainian region of Tavria (Korsunka village) under monicker of Postoronnim V. (Trespassers W.). In 1984 it was renamed to Ledokol (Icebreaker, in Russian), and it was renamed again to Krigolam (also Icebreaker, but in Ukrainian) in the wake of article in local «Ленінський прапор» («Lenin's Banner») newspaper.
This is the only "metal" demo of Krigolam; in the 2nd half of 80s decade they changed their style to folk/prog-rock and play it since then 'til now. Music on 1986 demo is mid- to slow-paced metal rock with numerous bluesy touches. Vocal sung in Ukrainian. Like many Soviet bands, they played assorted mixture of all kinds of rock in the vein of early 80s, making no difference between styles.

    A couple of perfectionist's remarks)
    1) According to the band frontman Vladimir Demchenko, this demo was titled "Kruiz" and was recorded in 1986, not 1985.
    2) Tape recording was sent to the music editorial board of the popular magazine called "Aurora" ("Аврора"). Maybe that's the reason why some sources give such a strange title to the "Kruiz" demo tape.

A note to the moderator: maybe you use this modern logo of Krigolam to put it at the clickable letterhead banner?

Logo fixed, band-name fixed too. Dunno about year… there are year of recording and year of release, and after 30+ years it's all fairly forgotten. Don't think it really matters when it comes to Soviet rock ;)

As the tape was recorded in 1986, then it could have been released the same year, i.e. 1986, or later. Not earlier, anyway. So, assumption it was issued/recorded/published/released, etc. in 1985 as expressed by some sources is totally false. That demo recording was recorded and put on tape for further promotion in 1986.

Okay, let it be 1986… To add more perfection it has to note the whole demo was recorded in single night by Volodymyr Demchenko (all guitars + vocals?) and drummer Serhiy Popelchuk.
