This EP fom Finnish ANGUISH may be considered as a cult item nowadays as it was released by famous OBSCURE PLASMA Records. And with that in my mind - and the fact that this label has released some stunning Swedish deth metal bands - to remind you HOUSE OF USHER's "On the Verge" EP, PAN-THY-MONIUM's "Dreams II" EP and EUCHARIST's "Greeting Immortality" EP - I bought this seven inch. And I don't regret tha money I spent on it, surely not!
This EP was recorded in 1990 – so these Finns managed to enter the studio three times within one year (and recorded two demos and an EP), quite an achievement. Luckily each next recording they did sounds better than the previous one and so this EP is definitely the best thing ANGUISH ever recorded. Ha, comparing it to the “Last Grimace” demo it almost sounds like a different band! The song structures, style (riffs, arrangements), ideas… and also technical skills… everything is just 100 times better than what I’ve heard on ANGUISH’s debut demo.
