Stormchild is a classic British Metal act that was active on the scene from 1984 to 1987. Although often cited as being part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, the band always felt themselves more in tune with the extreme metal bands that were emerging from both America and Europe at the time. Stormchild always had an ear to more underground sounds such as Forbidden, Death, Nasty Savage, Exodus and Vio-lence, as well as Canadians like Exciter, Voi Vod and Razor. On the European side of the Atlantic, Stormchild were heavily influenced by and contemporary to the likes of Mercyful Fate, Destruction, Kreator, Sodom and Celtic Frost. Add in a bit of British grit via Venom and Motorhead, a sackful of youthful energy and an artistic vision far beyond the members' tender years at the time, and you have an act that even 20 years after splitting are still considered seminal in their field.
