Sad news. We have lost a brother in arms.. Andrew (moderator on the forum and founder of Tridroid Records) passed away Sunday night.

Andrew was the first moderator on this forum, he was around even before I started up this website; back in the old blog days. He used to send me stuff from his amazing cassette collection. He loved this format and formed his own label Tridroid Records later on which had a great impact in reviving the cassette collecting scene.

Rest in peace brother. You will be missed.

The address in the news says the address was West Rose Avenue, but Tridroid Records was based out of a Virginia Street house.
I always thought that was Andrew's house, as he was the one who always answered emails and facebook messages when I made tape orders around 3 or 5 years ago.

Yeah. Its all over his personal Facebook. I don't know about his current adress though.. that article was posted on his Facebook and close friends mention the homicide.

Late last night, I received the news that original Tridroid owner Andrew Rehberger passed away. Before I knew him or had anything to do with Tridroid, I bought tons of music from this label. His contribution to the underground will never be forgotten. I only knew him briefly, so I'll be re-posting some of the words of those who knew him better. Rest In Power, Andrew.

I have to apologize, I haven't been around here much the last bit, have had some stuff going on. What absolutely horrible news. You, and of course his family have my sincere condolences, others I know knew him well too. While I never met him, it's very easy to see he contributed a ton to metal and seemed super well respected by everyone fortunate enough to know the guy. R.I.P.

Like everyone else here, I was shocked to hear of Malinku's tragic death. He used to be one of the first moderators at Forces of Steel, so we used to exchange dialogue quite often in 2012 and 2013. His cassette label was very cool to see, and you could tell he really put his heart into it.

See you in another life, brother.

He seemed like a great guy. He had a real passion for our music, which is rare for someone so young. I hope they find the person who did this.

Wow ! Saw this on news and on Facebook, didn't know he was Malinku.
I didn't know him in person ( knew him well online), He was at Impaler shows, as well as most of my friends bands gigs, and the local metal scene. Sad news and not really any info on it locally here.

I was thinking of malinku,and went back to read the article, and then looked some more.
TWO days after this, the suspect Joseph Edward Fischer, was charged with another murder, but no mention of Rehberger's murder.

What a freak. I can't believe they still haven't named a killer yet. I was actually thinking of Malinku too a few weeks ago and still hadn't found anything on anyone being actually charged. It must be horribly upsetting for his family.

After re-reading this thread i did a search to see what the status of the investigation was but it seems Andrew's murder unfortunately remains unsolved nearly 5 years after the event.
I did find a reddit thread from 2 years back where there are a lot of details about the case as it stood then, along with a lot of speculation, but nothing more recent.
Really hope the case is solved ASAP for the sake of his family & friends.

Insane that it's still a cold case. They figured that whoever killed poor malinku also killed another guy in his neighborhood immediately after. I was just reading up on if there were any new developments last week, because it comes to mind every once in a while.

Still shocking and awful and while I unfortunately didn't get to know him, he knew a lot of people I did. Hope they find out who did it so his family can finally have at least a bit of closure.

I feel the same way. Even though i didn't know malinku outside of the forum, the horrible circumstances around his death mean that he pops into my mind on occassion. I'd much rather remember him for his contributions here, and his efforts to promote the music we all love, but until the case is solved the tragedy of his death seems to overshadow the positives of his life.
Unfortunately, from what i've read it seems the police in the area are stretched pretty thin & don't have concrete evidence to tie any potential suspect to the crime scene(s). With the time that's passed i wonder if the case is even being actively investigated any more, but i sincerely hope i'm wrong and that his family & friends get the overdue answers & justice they deserve soon.
